A Relationship With A Sneaker

January 27th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

I love my worn out pair of sneakers. I wear it to work everyday. I only have a couple of pairs now and this black and white converse is what I wear often.

I have been planning to get myself a pair of flats but for some reason there’s this subconscious resistance which makes me leave the shoe store without buying anything.

And I don’t care is my co-workers see me on this pair every single work day like it’s a part of my uniform. As a matter of fact, I think it’s punk the way  I wear no other pair than this.

I wear it with my shorts and I also wear it with my jeans; my cardigan or my tees. I could even wear it with my wedding dress if that day will come. It fits me so well, it’s so comfortable to wear that I’d probably be saddened if it tears out.

I must have already mentioned this on a different post that an old friend taught me to wear sneakers. I can’t thank  him enough now. What I vividly remember was him saying, “the dirtier, the cooler.” I might not have agreed with him then but now I can say he’s so damn right.

How about you? Do you have something you just can’t live without that you just have to wear it even if it looks a bit off from your wardrobe? Feel free to share :)

A New Year: Out With The Old, In With The New

Happy New Year! How are you doing with your New Year’s Resolutions?

Mine was not realized at all. Broke it at 12:00AM January 1, 2011 which was to quit smoking — HA! I enjoyed the new year too much I guess. I flew back home on the first day of the year and got to bond with the family. My nieces are adorable! Samantha, Angel and Baby Lucy. I thought I couldn’t survive 10 days with my folks, but look ma’, I’m still alive! Never had a chance to sneak a cig at home. I only got to smoke when I went out with my college friends. Also met my ex and sort of walked out? Hehe! All is good, though, no hard feelings. I was simply having fun.

Nothing beats partying in my flip flops! LOL

I now have nieces! Waaaaa! I hate to think that I'm getting older.

We celebrated my Nanay's 56th birthday at the beach! =)

DIY Acne/Scar Reducing Mask & Toner

December 12th, 2010 § 2 Comments

I’ve been having an acne dilemna for the past months. They just wouldn’t go away! It started when I tried the Pond’s Black facial wash. I think I’m allergic to carbon-based products.

I found this acne treatment video in Youtube and I want to try it!

Anyone know where I can find a Cider Vinegar?

When everything seems to be a disappointment, and I have no one to turn to, I take refuge in the music.

Oh, dear!

I hate it when I impulsively talk about something and my thoughts are scattered so I end up saying it in the wrong way. It ends up sounding like I’m such an airhead. Maybe I don’t know how to gather my thoughts together first before opening my mouth to speak, because I tend to say things that shouldn’t be said. Like my opinion to other people, those thing are best kept to myself. I will not blame a person for not wanting to hang around after such ridiculous  and senseless conversation. I will not drink alcohol again.

This is bad. Ok. I can do this.

Salamat at Paalam NU107

As far as I could remember, I was only an Antonette Taus fan when I was younger. I watched Ang TV everyday. But NU107 changed all that. It was Puberty, probably, the time when I looked for something I could be, something I could relate to. It was great timing in 1996, when I found out about this Radio Frequency at the far right of the dial 107.5. I found it cool that they played songs I never hear anywhere else, and DJ’s talking about bands I came to like e.g. Pavement and Bikini Kill. It was Not Radio as far as I could remember, every Thursday or Saturday night at around 9 PM. Diego was a crazy lad i thought, and Myrene was witty enough to put up with that Crazy guy. Alas, I have found myself!

I never mind that I could not relate with my high school classmates at the time. They liked The Moffatts and Backstreet Boys! I pretty much considered myself a music snob then. Until NU107 CDO closed down, that was sad. Then again, by 2005 I moved to Manila so I get to listen to NU107 once again. Sadly, I didn’t get to listen to the radio as much as I’d like to as life always gets in the way, plus there’s the convenience of internet and ipods. Despite that, I still owe my taste in music now to NU107. It taught me to Rebel, and that it’s Ok to be Different.

That’s why last night was really emotional for me. I went to the last 4 hours of broadcast of NU107 in Ortigas. There were heaps of rock fans and rock stars. All showing their love for the station that one way or another, shaped their lives. Myself, included. That would have to be one of the most unforgettable time of my life. The way of life changes like everyone and everything else changes. Kids nowadays find their identity through social networking and such. I just hope they don’t learn from the “jejemonsters!” Gawd, that would be awful!

Below is the video of the last 10 minutes broadcast of NU107 in Ortigas. It felt much like the E’heads Reunion Concert. They played Alapaap first at 9PM and people were singing along. Nostalgia ensued. The jocks get to say their last words, bawling on-air even. Francis Reyes’ last words were: “NU107 will never dieeee!!!” I guess it won’t, because it has been imprinted in the heart of the kids of many generations. And as C.C. of Saguijo puts it: “It will be fine. Not today…not tomorrow…but soon. Keep the faith. Rock and Roll forever.”

I am finally able to watch The Social Network. I’ve been waiting for it for months! Unfortunately, I didn’t get to watch it at the Cinema. I planned to but something happened and my plan to watch it at the big screen just didn’t materialize. Thanks to torrent though I was able to download the film in more or less 2 hours. Better than nothing, right? Torrent saved the day!

What do I think of the film? I think it’s AWESOME! It’s semi-biographical and I think it was crafted so well. Mark Zuckerberg was deemed to be somewhat of the bad guy. Of course, you already know Mark Zuckerberg’s the founder of facebook, I assume? IT’S MUST-SEE!

Plus, the soundtrack is awesome. Trent Reznor did a very fine job. Bravo!

Earth Thought in the Morning

October 27th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

I have just read a news article about Harrison Ford speaking to the UN about Earth being at its Tipping Point. I guess the main reason is that majority of us “earthlings” do not care as much as we should about Mother Earth.

We have become either to greedy for money that we neglect to assess the harm we do to the environment. Or perhaps, we think there’s too much of it to even bother.

At some point, we think the trash we throw will not cost us anything anyway, like the butt of cigarette we indifferently throw on the street, the plastic stuff we do not recycle, and this could go on all day.

We allow illegal fishing and deforestation out of greed. It’s sad that the common people are aware of this but still don’t care. Or at least doesn’t have the urgency to act on it. It’s useless to wait for other people to do it, we must in our own way act on keeping this earth safe for us and for the future generation.

We are just a tiny speck compared to the immense size of this planet but if we act together we just might save millions.

Another crazy weekend’s done

October 24th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

Weekend’s done! Boohoo!

Now here comes the body pains. Jogged in MSP yesterday and I realized how long it has been since I jogged. 4 months probably? My body aches. Maybe my warm-up wasn’t enough? I want to try it again though. Next time I should have an ipod with me.

Anyhoo, I’m so dead later. The things I did last Saturday at Dadsy’s place was crazy. It sucks to be me. I enjoyed it, though. And I learned from Mitch that Dadsy had told the people at J.Lo’s party about what I did, ugh! I could now imagine what my Monday will look like.

It’s been a productive weekend though, I was able to do my laundry and I was able to meet my brother yesterday so now my D40 is back to Mommy! Now I’m off to dreamland again. Gotta’ wake up at 8 to pick the laundry and get my toe nails done.

Ta ta!
